Hey buds!
Since launching my new site. I have put together so many things to share with you.
I wanted to start off with something fun!
I figured, since we are kicking off our Popping On The Pole Virtual Series, it would be fun to begin with talking about Starz P-Valley. If you have been living under a rock, P-Valley is an amazing show with bomb acting featuring the fiercest pole and aerial acrobatic performances on television. P-Valley trains with us at The World Famous Vertical Joes. We have the honor of working with the industies finest to bring it all to life on the screen. Let me tell you more about what we do "Down In The Valley"!
There are many trainers from our facility that work with the P-Valley team. Since the shows pilot, I have worked as a P-Valley Trainer and Consultant. When the choreographer, Jamaica Craft, gets new actresses, performers or body doubles for the show she sends them to Vertical Joes to develop their characters pole swag and learn their tricks and pole sequences. Jamaica is a legendary choreographer. All my adult life I have had interaction with Jam, but hadn't really had the opportunity to work closely with her. When we train talent, we follow her direction to develop the artist. It is her vision that is executed.
Once we have completed training the athletes and actresses in executing the moves to Jamaicas liking, they then go to work with the choreography team to complete their routine at The Pynk!
I've had the honor to work with Mercedes, Miss Mississippi, Gidget and Autumn Night (with her poetic ass). I have also been blessed to train Roulette, Whisper, Brazil. Extra Extra, Peanut Butter and Jupiter stop in from time to time for rehearsals as well. We have developed a curriculum specifically catered to P-Valley in which any athlete that trains with us has the same basic moves and jargon making it easier for the choreographer team to get the desired execution from the athlete and easily create group routines.
The fun doesn't stop after teaching tricks, I also get to consult and create with the P-Valley Art Team. We consulted and were present for everything from pole installations, pole testings, we also recommended the lollipop, floating pole, pole on the pick up truck and more!
People always ask, how did I get looped into the show. I found out about P-Valley from the current star of The Wonder Years, Saycon Sengbloh. She told me about Katori Hall and how she was creating a new show that I had to be a part of. At the time, P-Valley was still looking for actresses. Soon after, Brandee Evans was booked as Mercedes and recommended Vertical Joes to Starz to train when they came to Atlanta. Brandee and I toured together years ago during Lil' Waynes Tour. She always said she wanted to learn pole dance and pursue acting then BOOM she did both!!! I am super proud of my bud.
So listen, Today is July 12, the anniversary of the first episode of Starz P-Valley. When P-Valley aired we were miserable in pandemic. I remember our watch party at the studio. Everyone was wearing mask and strategically sipping their drinks. We truly couldn't beleive our freinds were on Starz in a new show that actually celebrated dance culture, strip clubs and had great acting. We are so proud of how far the show has come and what the show represents. So Happy P-Valley-Versary!!!!!
